COVID-19

Dear Neighbours and Avid Massage Goers,

Our Registered Massage Therapists are excited to see you again and work with you and your unique wellness needs. They understand the importance of the “new ways” of operations to keep all of us safe. Together with them, we will exceed the standards laid out by the governing bodies.

We promise you that our actions and practices during this time will continue to be clear, responsible, and adaptive. Our goal is to maintain safe operations to keep you happy and healthy during this stressful time. Thank you for your trust and support as we continue the opening processes and as we continue to monitor national developments closely!

Is it safe for me to get a Massage?

If you feel healthy, have no symptoms, and have not travelled in the last 30-days, or have been associated with someone who has, absolutely, come in for a massage!

YES:

  • If you feel healthy and have an overall sense of wellbeing.

NO:

  • If you have respiratory issues, cold-like, or flu-like symptoms.
  • If you have a fever of 38° of greater.
  • If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or have been tested and are awaiting results.
  • If you have been in contact with someone that might have experienced any of the above symptoms or might have exposed you to COVID-19.

We know that massage therapy is an important part of your wellness routine, with many health benefits that help you physically, mentally, and emotionally. Research has also shown massage to be beneficial for helping to enhance your optimal immune system and heighten immune response by increasing the activity level of the body’s white blood cells that work to combat viruses.

* Please note that there is always risk in public areas and in any close contact between two people, during a time of outbreak. Our Team Members are mandated to stay home if ill, and we ask that our Clinic Guests enter only if in good health. If both parties have an overall sense of wellbeing, and are wearing protective equipment, getting a massage should be a safe practice.

What is the process before my next treatment?

  • Please book online, or via telephone, as per normal standards.
  • When we receive your booking, we will be in contact with you for active screening questions.
  • Please note that we will not accept cash during this time. You must bring alternative payments. This can be through insurance direct billing, debit cards, and credit cards. Cash tips will also not be accepted, however if desired, we can process this for you through our debit terminals.
  • You will be asked to bring your own mask to the session. This can be a surgical mask or washable.
    • If you do not one, a disposable mask will be presented to you for an additional $2.00.
  • Please come to the clinic only 5-minutes before your appointment. Our lobbies are not large and will only hold a few people with today’s new safety rules.
    • From your car, please call into the clinic to ensure it is now safe to enter.
    • Leave all possible personal items either at home or in your car.
    • When approved, please come into the clinic for your appointment.
    • Please sanitize your hands right away with the closest visible handwash station.
  • Please bring your own post-massage beverage to your session.
  • Enjoy a wonderful therapeutic massage service.

Will you have to take my temperature?

Unless it becomes provincially mandated, Massage Experts will not take your temperature. Many of the aspects of COVID-19 remain asymptomatic for up to 14-days, so unless you are showing obvious illness, a temperature reading is rendered ineffective. Please note that this answer can be subject to change Provincially. Our clinic will uphold the safety standards as mandated by Corporate Office, the Province, and the local regulatory body; whoever shall be to the highest standards of practice. Please check with your local clinic for any updates to this.

Do I have to wear a mask?

Yes, you will be required to wear a mask within our clinic. This is for your protection and the protection of our valued Team Members. If you own one, you may bring your own mask into the clinic. If you do not own one, a mask will be provided to you for an additional $2.00+tax.

How is Massage Experts managing the business during this outbreak?

We are closely monitoring all available information and guidelines as set by the Public Health Agency of Canada, the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centre for Disease Control (CDC), along with our various Provincial massage regulatory bodies. We have then leveraged this information to review and enhance our standard practices. This has then been combined with the needs of the local massage industry associations and Provincial regulations. We are managing by trusted sources to ensure all of our safety needs are being met.

What steps are Massage Experts taking to ensure the safety of its Clinic Guests and Team Members?

Your safety and our Team Members’ safety remains our top priority. Your optimal health is our absolute goal. We know that massage therapy is an important part of your wellness routine, with many health benefits that help you physically, mentally, and emotionally. Our goal is to maintain superior operations to keep you happy, healthy and safe, during this stressful time.

  • All Provincial Government guidelines have been put into place.
  • Regulations from the provincial massage governing body are in place.
  • Protective shields have been installed in the reception area.
  • Active screening of all Team Members and Clinic Guests will be done daily.
  • Appointments are now staggered to limit in-clinic traffic.
  • Limited traffic in our common areas will help with physical distancing.
  • Team Members are fully equipped with required PPE.
  • All Clinic Guests and Team Members are to wear masks in the clinic.
  • Enhanced and extensive cleaning and disinfecting measures are in place.
  • Uniforms and full linens changed between each treatment.
  • No cash to be accepted during an outbreak (see details below).

Active Guest Screening Protocols

  • We will be actively screening all Clinic Guests by pre-questioning their health status and travel status before they enter our clinic. This involves proactively calling and emailing each Clinic Guest before their appointment to understand if they show symptoms or if they have travelled recently.
  • Or perhaps have been in contact with anyone that may say yes to these questions.
  • Based on the received answers, we will help them to determine whether to enter the clinic for their treatment or to wait for a minimum of 14-days or more before their next clinic appointment.

What precautions should Clinic Guests take?

As a nation, we must come together to understand that we share a great responsibility to protect each other, our families, and our communities.

We would like you to reconsider your massage appointment if:

  1. You are currently experiencing FEVER, COUGH, or SHORTNESS of BREATH
  2. You have travelled internationally within the last 30-days
  3. You have been associated with anyone with any of the circumstances in point 1 or 2

If you have said yes to any of these questions, please do not come in for your scheduled appointment. Please contact your local clinic to inform them of your health status and required appointment cancellation. Due to the current outbreak situation, there will be no charge for appointment cancellations until further notice. We look forward to then seeing you again upon your return to good health.

What can I do in general during an outbreak?

It can be frightening, but it’s not good to panic during this unpredictable time. Your stress levels can impact your overall wellbeing, and you need to keep up your physical and mental health. Stay educated and updated by some of the key health organizations such as the Public Health Agency of Canada, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). They are currently suggesting to:

  • Practice frequent hand washing hygiene.
  • Try to touch your facial area as little as possible.
  • Wipe surfaces with a disinfectant or an antibacterial agent.
  • Wear gloves if shopping or journeying in public.
  • Always cough or sneeze into a tissue or the bend of your arm.
  • Dispose of any tissues you have used as soon as possible and wash your hands afterwards.
  • Do not shake hands with others during an outbreak.
  • Keep a personal distance of about 6ft (2 meters) between people

If you feel you are showing signs and symptoms of having COVID-19, it is always wise to contact your primary healthcare provider or call your Provincial Health Contact Line.

What about my Club MEx member charges?

During a closed time period, we will not charge for a missed monthly appointment. Reopening the Provinces will stagger the outcome of this answer by which location you are in. As we reopen the various clinics, charges will be resumed if a month is missed, and banked onto your Club MEx profile to use for future sessions. However, before this stage begins, we will give notice via Facebook and email. Information is also always available on our website as a resource.

Should you have any questions please send an email to
